2011 Summer Dance Classes
Ballroom Survival , West Coast Swing , Nightclub Two Step.
Ballroom Survival: Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, Hustle, Swing.
TEN Monday nights, starting June 6. Two hour class
This class aims to benefit both complete beginners and accomplished dancers. Inspiring, beautiful music and a fun and relaxed atmosphere are foremost. While beginners learn the basic steps, more advanced students will focus on capturing the unique ‘flavor’ of each dance through technique and styling. This class will primarily review bronze syllabus steps but we will also present new combinations. Through the combinations dancers will develop continuity styling and deeper understanding of body control and movement. This class is in response to the frequent comment “I forgot all I learned!!!” The fact is that spaced practice and spaced review dramatically enhance recall and retention.
6:30 – 7:30 West Coast Swing TEN Thursday nights starting June 9
Although West Coast Swing can be traced back to the 1940′s, its contemporary form is one of the most versatile partner dances. It is highly musically interpretive and can be done to many different styles of music. It can be danced with music ranging from jazz, to rhythm and blues, to top 40, country, or even disco. West Coast Swing is a fun dance. It’s the dance of preference for many who know all forms and styles of Swing dancing.
7:30 – 8:30 Nightclub Two Step TEN Thursday nights starting June 9
Night Club Two-Step, not to be confused with country western two-step, is one of the most practical and versatile social dances ever conceived. It is designed to be used with contemporary soft rock (“Love Song”) music. This type of music is common just about everywhere. N2S gives the dancer, either beginning or advanced, the opportunity to express and create without rigid technique being required. This is an attractive, romantic dance, and a real asset to learn as it will be used often.
